Scripture Clock began with our family.
We are a family of four who moved from Ukraine so that I could pursue a master’s degree in business. Only a few months later, war began in Ukraine and completely changed the plans we had made for our future.
It was a difficult and uncertain season, but we came to see that none of it was outside God’s providence. His plans were different from ours, yet we trusted that His wisdom was greater than our own and that His purposes were good.
As Scripture says:
“A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.”
“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
As a family, we have always held a strong conviction that the Word of God is inspired by God, inerrant, and sufficient for the life of every Christian. Scripture is not merely one source of wisdom among many. It is God’s Word, given to teach us, correct us, guide us, and equip us for faithful living.
“Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
God’s Word has always been essential in our personal lives, but also in the life of our family. We regularly spend time reading Scripture together, discussing it, praying, and helping our children understand how it applies to everyday life.
The idea for Scripture Clock was born during one of our regular evening family devotionals. Someone in the family suggested the idea, and all of us immediately liked it.
At first, it was simply going to be an interesting family project—something that combined hardware and software development and gave the boys an opportunity to build something together. Since all the boys in our family are interested in computers and technology, it seemed like a meaningful and enjoyable project for us to work on.
Our original goal was very simple: to create something for our own home that would give us one more opportunity to see Scripture in the middle of everyday life.
We wanted God’s Word to be present not only during a designated devotional time, but also throughout the ordinary rhythm of the day—while walking through the room, preparing a meal, working at a desk, sitting with the family, or simply glancing at the time.
That desire is deeply connected to the command given in Deuteronomy 6:
“These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
God’s Word is not meant to be distant, private, or occasional. It is meant to be woven into the whole life of the home—kept on the heart, taught to children, spoken about throughout the day, and placed where it will remain before our eyes.
Scripture Clock was created with that same purpose: to place the Word of God where daily life actually happens—in front of our eyes, in the rhythm of our homes, and in the ordinary moments when we glance at the time.
As we continued developing the first version, we began to realize that the idea could be a blessing not only to our family, but also to other homes, families, and believers. What began as a personal family project slowly grew into a vision for a product that could help others keep Scripture present throughout their day.
From the beginning, we wanted the device to be simple, peaceful, and easy to live with. We wanted to avoid the distraction and blue light of a traditional screen. We wanted it to feel less like another piece of technology demanding attention and more like a quiet, natural part of the home.
The design needed to blend easily into different spaces—a nightstand, kitchen, office, bookshelf, or living room—while keeping the focus on the words of Scripture.
Bringing that vision to life took more than a year of research, prototyping, testing, coding, rewriting, and coding again. Along the way, we experimented with different devices, microcontrollers, screens, materials, and design ideas, learning what worked and what did not. Many versions were created, changed, and rebuilt, and several new versions are still in development.
The first public version of Scripture Clock was released on the web. It offered a simple way to use the idea on devices people already owned, such as an unused tablet or an older computer. It is still available on our website at /web
The iOS version came next as a natural continuation of the web experience, making Scripture Clock easier to use throughout the day. You can download Scripture Clock from the App Store.
The physical device is the next step in that journey.
Even now, we do not consider the work finished. We are still developing the device we originally imagined, improving each detail with care and learning through every stage of the process.
Scripture Clock is being built with genuine love for God’s Word and with care for every person and family who may place it in their home.
Our hope is simple: that it will give all of us one more way to keep God’s Word before our eyes—one more quiet reminder of truth, one more opportunity to pause, and one more moment to turn our hearts toward the Lord.
